Only Drogenkontrolle

Posted almost 5 years ago
.This is an Audrey Inclusive Exclusive.I can't count how many times I've listened to "Only You". I think this is partially child psychbecause when I was younger this is one of the CDs that my Dad purchased based on the "Don't Go" single. Me and my siblings would quell the inner hyperactive by blasting this tape from the deck in our living roomalways skipping the "I Before E..." track, because 'wtf??'A few years ago I was flipping through Borders. I reached the end of the Pop/Rock CD shelves only to see a Yaz bumper peeking out at me. Upstairs at Eric's!?Shut. up. Bought it, and it's been in and out of playlist rotation ever since. I love that thing. I'm wondering if it's partial why I dig The Knife this much.I'd even mark "Only You" as the go-to if prompted for my all time favorite tune. Anyway. I'm a music zooand more recently I've been diving into the dance field because I've always had the hyperactive insidebut it's just the present that I've been embracing it. And so I've been getting all of this new DJ software and noodling around and experiencing the joy of shaping and mashing music to my liking. It's like, so amazing to me. The freedom to speed up and sync together the things that I like. I'm like newbie giddy about all this stuff. And it's a strange phenom-- it's always when I have no freaking clue what I'm doing that the powers that be take my hand and put the puzzle together. Like, that happened with "Bubble", a track that I don't think much of, but my lovely friends seem to enjoy. Right.I mean I don't even know WHY I put Glove's "Drogenkontrolle" on the virtual decks, because I have so. much. damn music. why that?but I did, and immediately I thought, Yaz. So I grabbed up "Only You,"just pressed record on the Virtual DJplayed the Glove track, and then at a random point just pressed play for Yaz and synced up the tracks real quick. And somehowit just came out dance beautiful.Like, the whispers are lined up right, and the beat is right now, and those swooshes in the background. I don't know, maybe it's not amazing to more seasoned ears (and mine are pretty peppered) (but also me-biased) but I'm not a pro by any means, so I'm just like, this is so wow (because)and I "made" it. Yes, but I also feel that I somehow don't have the merit to label myself as a "DJ" so I'm just using my Myspace title for moniker. Audrey (Maybe) - "Only Drogenkontrolle"Yaz's "Only You" overtop of Glove's "Drogenkontrolle"[for some reason the link isn't letting me post so I'll just upload it here. It's also at my myspace: www.myspace.com/maybemarthasaninfo]I'm so in love with this. Just because it's so silly too.Plus it's my favorite memories-attached songand now I can dance to it. And now you can too~! :DYeh, I'm not asking for criticism, either, it's just a fun thing. Grab a hairbrush and belt to the mirror. Cheers.

  1. dj ivi says i love the way you write your stories, they are such fun to read! i do that dj thang pretty often actually - where you just grab a track, no particular reason throw it on, start groovin to it, grab another throw it on, see if they could even slightly match up, and BOOM! an absolutely beautiful, how the f*** did i just do that mix! it almost ALways happens when i'm alone, or at least feel like no one's listening, and i'm just messin, not trying. when i try, i think too hard. when i approach it like a dancer, just groovin, just feelin it, it works amazingly. if only i could turn off the thinking and dance up mixes on demand so i could be this good during performances! my performances never end up with these amazing mixes, coz i'm trying too hard. i can't help it. it's so nice to hear someone else put this into words too... keep up the stellar mogging!
