Faunts

Tim Batke - vocals, piano, acoustic guitar
Steven Batke - trumpet, organ, piano
Paul Arnusch - electric guitar, percussion, backing vocals
Joel Hitchcock - electric guitar
"Instantly Loved" - Faunts. [Rec'd]
"Memories of Places We've Never Been" - Faunts. [Rec'd] (This one has a backdrop of that airy/whistly keyboard, you know, that one setting on your electric piano called "strings," even though it clearly sounds more like a group of sirens fanning through the water (sans distortion).)
They do have this one track ("What I'd Love To Hear You Say" - Faunts.) that starts off really new age-y, I don't know if a little *too* adult contemp, and I want to say, ehhh...this is worse than Coldplay, but if you ride the wave for a bit, the textures eventually settle in okay. But I like how "Instantly Loved" pans out. This track had me feeling absolutely nauseous as its stir ascended in the manner of many a'million whirling dervishes.
Record: High Expectations/Low Results
Plus, I think it's the production - I don't know for sure, because I don't know too much about that aspect of music - but the sound is really strong and crisp, and the layers sort of surround you. That's why headphones are a necessary component to the listening experience.
Anyhow. Regardless of any secondary opinion, I am enjoying the experience. This CD was definitely a worthy purchase.
