WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

great talent

She first came onto the music scene with the single "Mother Mother." If you mention Tracy Bonham to anyone, you usually get "Mother Mother? Yeah, great song." OR, people thing she's related to the late John Bonham, drummer for Led Zeppelin.Thing was, she hit the scene around the same time as Alanis Morrisette, who in my opinion, while being a talented singer-songwriter, isn't that great of a singer. Tracy had her beat by a mile, but she was totally doused. She had a few minor hits here and there, but never really got much attention from the public. She's had songs on a few movie soundtracks, she played violin for a couple of dates on the Page/Plant tour. She was the featured vocalist a few years back for Blue Man Group when they were touring the US. She has a side gig with the folkey group Wayfaring Strangers. She also appeared on an ep by Soulwax. While writing this I debated to myself whether or not to disclose that she's my cousin. I'm really NOT a huge fan of dropping names, but out of all of my tweaked-out family, she's done the most with the time given to her on earth, and I'm ultra-super proud of her.

  1. melmaples says Wow. Wow wow wow. I am so glad you posted this... your cousin is one of my all-time biggest and strongest musical influences. Her songwriting blows me _away_. I can't believe she's your cousin -- I work in the industry and don't usually get starry-eyed about shit like this (I'm used to big names traipsing in and out of the studio), but that is the fucking _coolest_. Seriously, I'm all kinda like choked-up now. Wow.

  3. atman says I have a few other cousins that talk about her every chance they get. They drop her name all over the place. I'm not sure why I felt like I had to post about it here. I hope it's because I'm proud of her and not because of "dig me, she's my cousin."
