Neil Young Archives Vol. 1: unreleased song, "Everybody's Alone" w/ Crazy Horse

Posted almost 3 years ago

Well, it's finally here. Perusing the track listing (and assessing my own cash flow), I see that there is much previously released stuff that I don't particularly need. Yes, I would like to splurge for this nice package, all 8 discs, but until I have the money (and a blu-ray player for the best HDCD quality), I'll have to make do with a few stray tracks downloaded from Amazon. Am I a bad Neil Young fan?

Anyway, this old track, seemingly from the Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere era, is a nice, tight rocking little gem with Crazy Horse. This is what the fans were expecting. Just how much stuff like this is Neil sitting on? We'll see if and when the next Archives gets released.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed listening!

I'm a big Neil Young fan too and cannot afford either a Blu-Ray player or this Archives disc set yet.  I'm holding out for the Blu-Ray discs but times are tough and cash is in short supply.

No problem! This track is just the kind of stuff I wanted to hear from this set.

The CD edition is actually relatively affordable. It just bewilders me that they already released "Massey Hall", "Live at The Fillmore" and "Live At Canterbury House" on CD previous to this, some of which is included here.

For me the only reason to buy the Archives set is for the high resolution audio offered by the Blu-Ray discs. I'm a bit of an audiophile so that excites me. Makes it worth purchasing all those songs I have already  + the bonus of being able to scroll through the history while listening on Blu-Ray is unprecedented.

What is amazing about this whole thing is never before has an artist taken full control of their own legacy and released such a comprehensive musical diary. Neil Young has really broken new ground here using a new technology to deliver his legacy.

For something on this scale and magnitude to be released by the artist and under the artist's full control is truly unprecedented. Neil Young is now Immortal.
