The Parallelograms
The Parallelograms formed in 2005 as a Rosehips tribute band, one successful enough to share the stage with three members of the Rosehips at the group's 20th anniversary reunion show. It wasn't long, however, before the fledgling group -- at that point consisting of Ian (drums), Markie (guitar), Meriel (vocals, glockenspiel), and Tonieee (bass) -- began working on their very own twee pop tunes, drawing on a variety of C-86 bands for inspiration, including Talulah Gosh, the Shop Assistants, and (naturally) the Rosehips. Beginning in 2008, the group saw the release of a number of singles. Two of these -- a 7" split single and a self-titled 3" CD-R -- were released on Cloudberry Records as the three-track Dream On Daisy EP. Another, a split 7" featuring the like-minded group the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, was released via Atomic Beat Records in 2010.
