Peter Morén
As part of the Stockholm-based trio Peter Bjorn and John, singer/guitarist Peter Morén helped bring the luminous sounds of Swedish pop to a universal audience in the 2000s. The band's third album, Writer's Block, firmly catapulted his songwriting contributions into the spotlight, due in large part to the infectious single "Young Folks." Following a lengthy bit of touring, the singer began premiering solo material at intimate New York venues in 2007, focusing on music that was considerably more folksy and low-key than his work with Peter Bjorn and John. Solo concerts eventually gave way to a solo disc, which drew upon the subject of adolescence and featured artwork from Morén's girlfriend. Entitled The Last Tycoon (a reference to F. Scott Fitzgerald's posthumously released -The Love of the Last Tycoon, as well the 1976 movie adaptation), the record was slated for an April 2008 release on Quarterstick Records.
