so i saw the bill for this show and it's something that's never happened before - three bands, all of which i had heard before and liked. so i had to check it out. the lonely h opened with a lot of youthful energy (all members are 18) and a LOT of hair - between those five boys, they have a good seven, eight feet of hair on them. one song had a franz-ferdinandesque danceable riff to it. they were definitely fun...there's a lot of potential there.
all the hair...what made milwaukee famous came next...i hadn't heard too much from them...i only recognized the song 'idecide' (mmm...it rocked) but i really enjoyed their entire show. i have their cd now (signed!) and i only wish i had heard it all sooner. solid indie pop. watching them, it struck me how different they all looked - four different styles, but one amazing sound. i don't know, i feel like in some bands, all the members could be the same person. i dont know if this makes any sense. my point is that they made it work. i was able to catch up with them outside - they even took a picture with me and all of them introduced themselves and shook my hand. definitely nice guys, awesome band. as i listen to their cd more, i'm really liking 'idecide' (ofcourse), 'the jeopardy of contentment', 'sweet lady', and 'bldg. a boat from the boards in your eye'...yeah.
bff's...aqueduct came next. they got the crowd moving for sure. i liked the strong keyboard presence in a lot of the songs. but the lead vocals were a little rough for me...not as melodic as wmmf. not that it was bad, but i just didn't get as into it.
so there you go. wmmf was definitely the highlight for me. i'll leave you with idecide...
