Super Duper Music

Posted over 5 years ago
Last weekend I went to Amoeba with India, and you can see full details of the trip here. (complete with photos, too!)I bought these three albums: A Million Microphones and Always Never Again, by Supersystem, and The Avalanche by Sufjan Stevens.I really like Supersystem, they've been on my "list of bands to check out" for quite a while but it wasn't until I went searching through the miscellaneous S albums in the used section looking for Sunset Rubdown that I found these two cds and actually bought them. I looked both the albums up on pitchfork, and I have to say, sometimes I think pitchfork record reviewers exist solely to bash things. They really didn't like the lyrics or the dancey electronicky sound. Ah well. I think it's great though, the lyrics don't bother me, I find it interesting how they can be kind of random but still tell a story. It's totally dance music though! Makes you want to move around. They have a show at the Rickshaw Stop on Saturday and if I had money/people to go with/time (the three things that always get me) I would go. Black Fiction is also playing, this great local band.

  1. max says always never again is great, though i havn't really listened to it recently, i must say that i was thoroughly unimpressed with the new album however...there was just nothing new, but unlike ratatat, who did absolutely nothing new with their present release, they were at least still sounding good, supersystem, well, just meh...you should check out el guapo too (el guapo was supersystem before they decided to change their name..oh and perhaps q and not u's album Power, which was contributed heavily by supersystem members) peace
