Have You Ever Met Lindsay?

Posted almost 4 years ago
Yeah...me neither. But that won't stop me from posting about her.See, one of the things I love about Mog is the inspiration I get from the people here. I find myself inspired about music, politics, movies, humor and family life. This is a post inspired by "I Am":http://mog.com/I_am/blog_post/165915.As one of my top 10 moggers, I Am inspires me all the time...and today he posted about his beautiful girl Lindsay. And no, he is not biased...the girl is beautiful. As soon as I saw those pictures and read his words about his girl, this song popped in my head, I couldn't shake it, all day...humming there, rattling around...I had to post it. Maybe by posting it, I can purge it from my gray matter and move onto something else. But if not, at least it is a great song to have stuck.

  2. Bartleby says (Above a little visual aid for the aural beauty of your post). I forgot to say that Lindsay is as beautiful as you've said she is. I didn't meet her either but I saw the pictures, she is adorable ;) (PS: Thank you I am for sharing your fatherly love with us)

(insert winky emoticon here) DM - Yeah...I hate that too. Ivy - I am assuming Amen to all of the above. Bart - Thanks for the photo...it adds to my experience.

  8. Rawkkiddoh says Its sad to think kids grow up to become fourth graders..........sorry I am still feeling the effects of a long year of teaching. Both posts made my night though, and I agree it is always incredible to see a father take the time to see the beauty in their child.

  9. annieander says Kev...lucky that they don't become 4th graders overnight, and not all of them become the 4th graders that you had. I hope your teaching doesn't jade you...your boy must be almost 3, and he will never be like your 4th graders...my boy certainly wasn't.

  10. Rawkkiddoh says I know what you are talking about, and no this year has not jaded me. I have said it a million times kids turn out how their parents want them to. You take the time to mold and shape a child and they become the person you always wanted them to be. Ignore and not care for a child and the results are saddening to say the least. I had a room full of children like that and although they almost drove me to the point of insanity, my heart still went out to each and everyone of them. You would hear about their home lives and it was no wonder why they acted the way they did at school.

  11. annieander says Kev - Honestly, you brought them to life thru your posts...Maybe you aren't jaded, you are just experiencing PTSD. That's what the summer is for....fortification for next year's war.

  12. Rawkkiddoh says Amen to that, and amen to the drink that is currently numbing my senses!

  13. Augusts1 says Wow, loving this song, but then again I'm a diehard for anything by XTC. Then again I wasn't familiar w/their album "Homegrown" but I haven't really followed them since "Nonsuch" in '92. When I first saw your title I thought you were referring to Ms. Lohan, so I was relieved to find out it was a different Lindsay(who is quite beautiful). I have songs pop into my head often too.

  14. annieander says Aug - For some reason it is coming up as Homegrown...but really it is Wasp Star: Apple Venus Volume II. After Nonsuch, their is Apple Venus Vol. I and Wasp Star...both beauties in my humble opinion.

  15. Augusts1 says Oh, ok, thanks for the clarification!

  16. consumerx says Nice track. Thanks Annie. It's from an album I've little experience with. Since we're on the subject. I've got a question for moggers. I've always pronounced their name as the letters X - T - C, but I've got a friend (and another big fan of theirs) that insists on saying it as if he were saying ecstasy or X - ta -c. Further, he insists that this homonym is no accident and that the band or Andy P. must have been intentionally playing with this concept. Any thoughts??

  17. Sam The Artist says she looks almost too much like my cousins kid. eerieeeeeee.

  18. Augusts1 says Consumerx, I've always, since I got into them in the late '80s pronounced their name as individual letters. I agree that their name is a play on the word ecstasy & as clever as Partridge & the boys are in their music, I've no doubt it was intentional.

  20. I am says You inspire me as well Annie, more than you will ever know. While I claim to be a fan of XTC and their alter ego the 'Dukes", I have to admit that I never heard this tune before. And now it's in my head also. I think we should coin a term here: Anytime a post generates 1 or more other posts from different sources in a social network it should be referenced as the, 'Jacopetti Effect'. Maybe we will see this one on 'Wireds' Jargon Watch page. Thanks Annie for the things you do, while not knowing that you do them.

  21. Cody B says I have met Lindsay. She's as cute in person as she is in real life. Lovin' the kid posts and the XTC.

  22. annieander says Con - I always say their name by the letters X - T - C...and so does my husband...so there you go. Cody - Lucky you... Chris - "Jacopetti Effect" I like it...doubt it will stick though... Anna - Yeah it is...all this mutual appreciation...shucks. Sam - Sometimes kids look alike. It's the big eyes and large forehead effect that their faces grow out of around age 7 or 8. Aug. - Who am I to school you....Hey, aren't you going to a couple of concerts today?
