WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

A most excellent time....

Posted 3 months ago

was certainly had.

The last Harvey Danger show at the Crocodile in Seattle with Amber was not only memorable...it was also fuckin' long.

After the 1st show ended. Sean Nelson and band signed stuff outside. I purchased their latest album "Dead Sea Scrolls" and had them sign the cover. Rob Knop (keyboardist) asked if we were coming back for the last show. We said yes...he suggested I grab a quick nap and rest cuz "It's going to be a long show" he warned.

Long story short...They started playing at 9:30 and at 11:00 Sean announced that the show had now ended...that they were moving into the encore now. AND for the encore they would be playing requests till 1:00, for the next 2 hours. Smokey joe...and they did. It was fantastic. About an hour later I left my post at the front of the stage to relax my back while sitting at the bar enjoying a scrumptious glass of red wine. I texted Amber that I was there and soon she joined me. What a way for them to finish...a perfect glass of red wine with my best friend. It doesn't get any better then that IMHO.

I loved this photo of the bar back...all red and dreamy...I can still hear his voice in my head.

Thanks Sean...you are certainly gracious.

Cody - We parents forget to get out and about, don't we?

RX - Thanks for the upload...good to see you've got things sorted out in the meantime.  Yes...it was an intimate venue and concert.  I was blessed.

Last week we went out to see Passing Strange (the new Spike Lee film of the Broadway Musical), which is my latest obsession. When MOG is fixed I will post on it. I'm suprised all y'all aren't all over Mr. Stew (the main man behind the show, film, and the band Negro Problem)..but maybe you all are I and just haven't noticed.

Fans of power and powerful pop should be checking Stew.

I am SO jel you got to go to Seattle(one of my fave cities) & spend time w/a 3rd of our Triple A(one of my fave persons, next to you of course).

I have yet to get on the Harvey Danger wagon but from the sound of these songs I may be venturing into them. Good stuff, I really am liking the vid song. You two have done this to me before with DCFC, lol.

And last but not least(gawd I got way wordy here), you & Amber really need to give Fol Chen a listen & chance, they are my band of choice for close to a year now. C'mon, get on their wagon A! I KNOW you will love them if you give 'em half a chance. I'm really hoping they will be at Coachella next year! I have yet to see them live & they've not come up to SF yet(& I've been keeping my eye open for them too). I posted about a FREE remix album I discovered over a month ago on my page here which will whet your appetite for more.

awesome post a. wish i could have been there! did they play 'save it for later' ??? thats the first request i would have belted.

Sam - Nah...didn't play that for some reason, but someone asked for it.  But they did play Bowie "Oh! You Pretty Things"...that was excellent.  It took them a minute to remember it..but then we all grooved it.  "Save It For Later" is on The Dead Sea Scrolls and I posted it on the dark side.

Aug - I will give Fol Chen a listen...you know I listen to your suggestions (cept for that hip hop that you crazy kids are into these days).

Chuck - It really was excellent...if all to short.

    Cin - Thanks.

Cody - You do remember that my husband is named Stew...believe me when I say that I am all over Mr. Stew...tee hee...Now I will have to check out this new Stew.  Can't wait for Mog to be fixed.

RX - Fingers crossed that it's sooner then later.

Well all right! What a time! In honor of their dissolution, I listened to their debut album from beginning to end this past weekend and watched the office lip-dub of "Flagpole Sitta" one mo' time.

Mike - The irony of your comment is  after they played Flagpole Sitta the last time, Sean stopped the concert so that the band could take a moment and enjoy the fact that they will "Never have to play that fucking song ever again.".  They then high fived and clinked beer bottles in toast like fashion...they were generally pleased.

Ah...good times.  They did put on an excellent show, didn't they?  I admit I got a little teary-eyed when I heard Pike St/Park Slope for the last time.

And hanging with my best friend for any show is a grand time--toss in one of my favorite (now dissolved) local bands and I was as happy as can be.
