    Dark Was The Night Compilation

    Train Song (feat. Feist)

The tracks in this compilation are awesome and they continue to speak to me. I wanted to share some of my favs.

Oh, her voice is so sweet...and his guitar is so light.

I love the guitar and the driving drums in this one.

A.C. Newman and Co. just doesn't disappoint me.

Dark Was the Night is the twentieth compilation release benefiting the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS. Featuring exclusive recordings by a number of independent artists and production by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, the compilation was released on 16 February 2009 (UK) and 17 February 2009 (US) as a double CD, three vinyl LPs, or as a digital download. John Carlin, the founder of the Red Hot Organization, was the executive producer for the album. The title is derived from the Blind Willie Johnson song "Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground," which is covered on this collection by the Kronos Quartet. (taken from Wikipedia)

The ones that grab my attention are the first and the last, especially the last. I think my teenage daughter's Conor Oberst fixation has finally worn down my resistance....

I looooove this compilation.  Cello Song (Jose Gonzalez and The Books), Deep Blue Sea (Grizzly Bear), and Feelin' Good (My Brightest Diamond) are my faves, with You Are The Blood (Sufjan Stevens) a close runner-up.

Cody - I wanna hear your Suggie Otis...

Alex - That "blood" is so unlike his other stuff. Amber put it on during our roadtrip.

I couldn't comment since Mog wouldn't let me yesterday. Had to contact staff to figure out how to fix it.

Love TNP track & Arcade Fire's track. Good stuff.
