WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Just What The Doctor Ordered...

Posted about 1 year ago
After the week I have had (please refer to earlier post), I didn't think the day would end like this.I will give you a clue...two magical little words..."Lucky Juju":http://www.ujuju.com/.For the uninitiated, Lucky Juju is located in Alameda, CA. It is a vintage pinball museum. People come far and wide, even from out of state, to play these machines. Best of all, every pinball machine is set to free play. Usually you pay your admission fee on a Friday or Saturday, and it is free play from 6:00 to midnight. And yes, you can bring your favorite bottle of something. It can also be rented for parties, and today it was booked for a birthday party for one of my son's friends...I brought the gift, so I got to play...PINBALL....FREE....FOR 2 HOURS...and It was awesome. No better stress reliever then pinball, well. maybe, except, FREE PINBALL. There are jukeboxes in every room...btw, they are also free.Mog is giving me issues about uploading photos tonight, and I'm to tired to argue with it. I'm playing this song, because they actually have a pinball machine from the 70's called "Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy":http://www.ujuju.com/item.php?id=519. It has a huge picture of Elton on the face and is a hoot to play.Good night everyone.

  2. I am says You jerk, with your ... your temptation ... and ... you are evil. I long for a good pinball parlor. In VA Beach I had Flipper McCoy's but in the Valley I got bupkus.

  8. annieander says wzgirl - Anytime you want to...Friday night would be perfect...we could go for a pub pie around the corner and play pinball...all before picking up Stan from Warhammer...jz would love it. Pat - Since you are in the hood, you are obligated to check it. So fun. Ty, Dale, Chris - 2 hours is about all I can handle, then it becomes overload. Lyrikhan - Nice song, and you are right about his delivery. He puts something into it. 12. annieander says Oh Cody...you found the pict. I was searching for...isn't it a perfect Elton shot...kinda sums up his whole experience...the shoes, glasses & look. Lyrikhan - Now I have to rent both...not to prove you wrong, not by any means, I just love Chevy in those movies...Don't forget Funny Farm...make that three I have to rent. Girl - NP!

  13. Cody B says I mean, I'm not gonna say I don't like video games (they play well into the obsessive streak in me), but pinball has that promise, that unlikely chance..that your game might never end.

  14. annieander says And the free component plays into my super stingy nature.

  15. annieander says I get what you mean, and I'm particular about the machines I play. I don't get uber excited about the really old machines, and the super duper new ones with the multi-levels are to confusing. I like to know what I'm shooting for, and I try for an excellent score. It plays into my obsessive compulsive nature.

  16. Lyrikhan says you know...I don't think I've ever seen _Funny Farm_ somehow !! guess i gotta do me some rentin' as well

  17. annieander says This was just what the doctor ordered...so funny. And Frank Oz...he was also in The Blues Brothers...I didn't know he was in other Akroid films. Can we call movies of this nature films? It doesn't seem right.

  18. Lyrikhan says HAH...that is Frank Oz, isn't it?....and yeah I guess he was the clerk at the prison in Blues Brothers now that you mention it....good call

  19. vannatta says ...sounds like Harold Ramis is doing the voice over for Oz...

  21. FastRMacR says GREAT Elton tune!! Aren't those ball bearings in those pinball machines? It's all ball-bearings, right Lyrikhan? NaWWWWW!! Someone I know (ZeppoNoir) has a PBM and is a wizard Tommy! Yours truly owns 15 (and counting) 70s-80s vintage video arcades. :p In fact I just picked up two this summer in Big Bear, CA. We played the 2 massive Hercules pinballs there, great arcade - too cool. Stress relief indeed - the best thing to wind down with after a long drive to California and back just to pick up arcade games (and visit my brother)! lol Awesome post - thanks! Game on! (vaps.org/Intruder80). When you own them they're always free (and no little kids will scratch expensively rare marquees). Good old Mojo!

  22. annieander says Mac - how do I get to play your video arcades...I used to play "BattleZone"...please say you have that one...please say you have that one. Danny - any time you want to visit, you have a place to stay...no joke...

  24. annieander says Becareful Danny, Spain is definately on my list of places to see...Bilbao is at the top...and we do travel, every year...next summer Scotland again. My mother-in-law has cancer and is unable to fly, so we make the trek every year, somewhere in Europe, to see her. Ditto on the good vibes, I have long considered you a friend.

  26. '>LOL! When "Spectre" came out on the Mac way back when I couldn't get enough of the very similar game (I still have a 5200 here with that game amongst other classics). There's a Battlezone on craigslist here for 300 (I've been salivating). That is DEFINitely on my list for the collection (and your mention just might tilt me lol)! Get to Denver - they're in the garage/shop (save the Asteroids and Defender in the house). I even have a regulation dart board to go with the Guinness in the fridge. :p Some cool folks signed up at this web place too! Here's my entry ... http://www.vaps.org/members/member_detail.php?member_id=392050 Williams always had the best sounds ...
