This just seems right tonight...

This is my favorite song. It felt like the right song to play before bed. Or if you are just waking, brewing a strong cuppa, it'll work too.Good news too all in the MOS...Cheers.

  4. annieander says Oh yea...totally fine, but that is why I have a link to CA Earthquakes on my site. I check it every day. I wasn't here for Loma P,, but I grew up in CA, I have been in some pretty jolting ones.

  7. Mike the Knife says That is one of my all-times, annie - and love the Karrin Allyson version as well. BTW, I was at a screening in the Bridge Theater when the quaking happened. I'm happy to say that it was dinky stuff from where I sat - and hope that any damage elsewhere was minimal.

  9. annieander says Mike - I'll have to find that cover. We live on the landfill part of Alameda. Liquifaction, anyone, anyone? So it was a long rolling quake. the hanging lights were swaying. Yeah...nothing big though. D & Girl - I never can go wrong with this song. It just makes me happy.

  11. Lizziegreeneyes says River is a PERFECT SONG... on a near perfect album... I am also a crazy-lover of Ladies of the Canyon & Both Sides Now... The latest recording of Both Sides Now about kills me every single time I listen to it. *Annie:* as always... a stunner of a post. Glad all with you are OK... hate hearing about tragedies elsewhere... Thanks to MOG, I have so many new friendships/ties to all parts of the GLOBE. When something happens - it finds a way to hit closer to home for me these days... did that make any sense ??? Thinking of you girl :)

  12. annieander says I forget that the word earthquake carries a whole lot of weight...and depending on where you are, the quake can feel different. It was more of a matter of fact that we were having an earthquake at our house (45 miles north of the epicenter), but for my brother and his family on the penninsula, south of where Mike was, felt it pretty strong. Standing in doorways, but not running out of the house strong. It is very surreal having the earth shake...you cannot control it. Sometimes it is not the shaking that is startling, it is the initial "boom" that can be quite scary. First there is the initial shock wave, with a marked sound, then the rumbling starts about 3 to 5 seconds later. I get what you mean though Lizzie, you would't have heard about this if not for mogging. It is a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

  14. Lizziegreeneyes says never felt one though I slept through a minor one out here I want to say a few years back - I am fairly certain I was at my present job... last 7 years then. Don't think I'd like to feel one - at any level in any location... that's what keeps me away from living in Calif... Oregon, Washington - now that I could handle ;) Mad forests... depending on what side of the Cascades - wet or dry weather... beautiful. I was about 5 hours away from Mt. St. Helens when it errupted... we couldn't see out of the car windows from all the ash 300 miles away from us. A trip that should have taken us three hours... took us 5 days - no one could get through... roads/bridges everything SHUT DOWN for days.

  15. annieander says You win...a volcano erruption....WOW!

  16. Lizziegreeneyes says It was the most surreal thing... from a most beautiful day to ASH everywhere... watching the Towers collapse on the most perfect of days & the ash (strangely listening to a Josh Joplin song about ASHES) that covered countles people & city blocks in NYC - it was like reliving Mt. St. Helens... We went back a few years later to see the devestation it caused... Crater Lake - still filled with ash & trees... dead trees for hundreds of miles... homes, cars, everything in ruins... A really strange feeling seeing all of the aftermath...
