The relationship of Brian Wilson to punk rock is referenced in my post today in the MMN... but I just wanted to say that I returned from the "Brunch With Brian Wilson" in-store at Grimeys in Nashville.
In line, I met people who came from as far aways as CALIFORNIA just to get Wilson's autograph. There were people from Missouri, Illinois and other states.... wow. That's dedication.
Brian Wilson is indeed the quiet genius. He said "thank you" to everyone, but this is not a man with whom you can have an ad hoc gregarious conversation. He's intense. He is after all - BRIAN WILSON GENIUS.
Professionally, I have crossed paths with him and he was extraordinarily gracious when talking about the Beatles... he just won't talk about himself. And I think it probably makes him feel pretty weird to be the center of attention and have total strangers worship at his feet.
He's got an aura around him. He exudes a force. I didn't take any pictures.... he's kind of sacred to me.
But thanks Brian, for everything - especially for endorsing California Girls.

So jealous! I'd be scared to. I loooooooooove Brian Wilson above all others... :)
Nashville in store with Brian, wow, that would be something for sure! Great post!
I've heard different accounts of Brian, but none said he was mean or an asshole. Just seems like a gentle soul, making brilliant music, really to sensitive for the Rock n' Roll biz, but thank god he's there.
I don't think I want to meet him, even in a store. My relationship to the music is just too intense and .... no- cnacel that. Of course I'd like to meet him!
