I still have a hard time believing it has been 30 years since Blondie's breakthrough album, Parallel Lines was released.
Back in 1978, I'd already been seeing Blondie play live for a little over a year. None of us who hung out together with the Blondies - including the band themselves - could have believed the extent to which they hit it big with that silly, throw-away "disco song," Heart of Glass.
Blondie is celebrating by hitting the road - they're on tour right now in the Northeastern United States and then will head over to Europe in July.
Visit their official website - www.blondie.net for tour dates and news.
I am celebrating in my own way, making available for the VERY LAST TIME before I retire the negative, this fabulous image of Debbie Harry & Blondie from 1978... it is available through my www.punkrockgiftshop.com and I'm only making an edition of 50 of these beautiful metallic prints. If you want it - act fast and act NOW!

Hanging On The Telephone -- for sure
One way or another, Blondie will get you!!!
It's hard to believe that "Parallel Lines" is 30 given that "Heart of Glass" or "One Way..." or "Hanging on the Telephone" is still played on the radio somewhere. I'm sure if you turn on your radio, you're bound to hear it. Not to mention all the films which used their songs as a soundtrack. This album is monumental.
Thank you for all the fond memories and your superb photographic illustrations on punkturns30.com -- (I love your punk radio -- incidentally the John Cale song will not play for me)
Like you...30?!!??!! I well remember driving along Franklin with the windows down and 'Telephone' or 'Heart of Glass' blasting from the radio. Best thing is, they still sound exciting and vital and cool. Perfect marriage of cool band, great front person and excellene producer (Mike Chapman).
