I am going to Memphis to see the Gories and the Oblivians. This Friday and Saturday at the Hi Tone Cafe.
Each band is a seminal 3-piece no bass line up playing the most bad ass dirty garage punk rock n roll flavored with their respective hometown soul.
And there's also Memphis BBQ in the mix.
I think my weekend trumps all weekends I can think of...

Never heard of em, but bad ass dirty garage punk rock n roll and barbecue sounds like a can't lose to me.
DUDE.... the garage rock renaissance of the 90s was due completely to both the gories & oblivians.
the gories album HOUSEROCKIN' was probably the one that kick started said garage rock renaissance...
and the oblivians.... are legend. jack white got all his tricks from them AND he bought jack oblivian's red airline guitar... transforming that instrument into something famous.
jack oblivian will be playing that guitar this weekend tho....
