WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Acoustic State of Mind

Posted over 3 years ago
Does hearing a particular song make you crave other songs like it? I'm stuck on Hey There Delilah lately and can't seem to get enough acoustic to satisfy my singing-in-the-car habit. Any recommendations for this acoustic junky?

  1. LoveSongsSuck says I love that song. Have you ever heard it live? Well I have you might have the EP which has the live version, but it's fun to sing along to in concert. It's not acoustic, but try "Coldest of Calendars" by Punchline if you don't already listen to them. That song kinda reminds me of Hey There Delilah a little bit.

  2. ScurvyMouse says You could try Lucifer and Gabriel's Solstice Eve although you may find it a bit folky. See a link on my MOG page. Yes he's a friend, but this is great acoustic music. I also listen to a lot of Loudon Wainwright III whose songwriting skills are amazing. A lot of the live stuff is just him and acoustic guitar. Try Career Moves for a taster. And then there is Nick Harper - Double Life is a killer live album. Who knew an acoustic guitar could be so pumped up? And Light at the End of the Kennel his first EP has 6 lovely acoustic numbers. Food for thought :-)

  3. angeldawn says Thanks you guys. I have not heard Delilah live but I'll have to check if PWT will be in the KC area any time soon. Loved the Punchline song and found a few others on that CD worth downloading too. I can't wait to check ScurvyMouse's suggestions. I'm in a meeting and can't blast anything. Do you think anyone would notice if I plug in ear pieces and start a subtle head bob? Better wait until I get home. Doesn't everyone MOG during boring meetings? :-p

  4. drewfonts says A few completely random acoustic recommendations: First, some folksy acoustic goodness: Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road Joshua Radin - Winter Second, a couple of emo/punk bands who actually sound decent on acoustic (this is WAY more rare of a thing than you might think): The Early November - Power of Love (yes, the Huey Lewis song) The Starting Line - Best Of Me (from the Make Yourself At Home EP)

  5. angeldawn says Jackpot! Wow, these are all fantastic. Power of Love is a hoot. Found it on "Punk Goes 80's" and am listening my way through the rest of that album. Emiliana Torrini has an amazing voice. I feel like I've heard Joshua Radin somewhere before. The Starting Line will be on my shopping list once payday comes. Thanks for looking back through my stale posts.
