WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

We were answering daughter's questions last night about bands we liked and concerts we attended in our youth. Got us talking about the opening bands who had to take some punishment from audiences who just wanted to hear the headliner. Ever hear of Jimmie Spheeris? He opened for a Moody Blues concert my husband attended and evidently it was brutal, the booing and jeering. What's the best opening band you ever heard who was unfairly treated?

  2. Joxley says I don't think i've evr seen a good support act treated really badly, but I have seen some meet with undeserved apathy, The Kills (completely ignored openin for Franz Ferdinand) The Grates (ditto for The Zutons) and The Strokes (Foo Fighters). I've also seen AvA recieve underserved praise for an opening set.

  3. SatisfiedMind614 says I will say that I felt kind of bad for Sonic Youth when I saw them opening up for REM in 94 or 95...that was right after Monster came out and I had the feeling that about 60% of the audience was there to hear "What's the frequency Kenneth?" and go home...i am afraid most of the beautiful distorted feedback-driven melodica of Sonic Youth was lost to people in line for beer
