Why Everyone Should Be Listening To The American Analog Set

Posted about 5 years ago
The American Analog Set is one of those indie bands that has been around for a long long time but has flown under the radar in the indie music scene for all those years, and gets hardly any recognition. Why this is happening is a mystery to me. AmAnSet have been longtime friends of Death Cab For Cutie, with Ben Gibbard and Andrew Kenny both doing "Home: Volume V" together. They are such an amazing and wonderful band. It's obvious that AmAnSet and DCFC have both influenced each other greatly. After discovering AmAnSet a year or so after discovering Death Cab, I was blown away. AmAnSet is usually like a slower Death Cab with a orchestra xylophone, but they do have some fast songs that are excellent. Anyways, this band should be getting a lot more recognition than they are currently recieving, despite the fact that they never plan on going on a large scale tour again. AmAnSet music can fit any situation in life, it's true! Go listen. My personal favorite album is "Know By Heart", but "Promise of Love" and "Set Free" are good too. Here's their website:www.amanset.comSome MP3s are up for download on their site, like the excellent track "Hard To Find". All the demos from their latest album, "Set Free" are on the site too.Check them out, especially all you Death Cab fans who joined MOG because Ben Gibbard has one, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

  1. photographyandme says I completely agree. The Postman is one of my favorites of theirs. They do drag on a bit at times. But when the moods just right nothing else works but american analog set. Cheers.

  8. andy gohlich says Tyred: Home Volume V is a great album. Ben Gibbard covers "Choir Vandals" and Andrew Kenny covers "Line Of Best Fit". Both wonderful. Ben's stuff is more upbeat while Kenny's stuff is more down tempo, but overall a great record. If anything go download Ben's cover of "Choir Vandals".
