Best concert lineups ever

So I've been thinking lately about the concerts and tours I really would have liked to have seen. Thing is, I can't find a good list of tours anywhere, so I've got to go off of ones I know. Which right now amount to just a couple that I think would have been awesome to have seen. The first is the famous 3-way headline tour consisting of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. And then there's

Breakup songs?

Back in the day (in the middle of a decent relationship, ironically), I tried to cull from my music library a few choice songs that would chart the stages of a breakup. I know I've got my partial list somewhere, but thought that today, the day after my breakup, might be a good time to solicit ideas for bands, albums, and [preferably] playlists of songs that follow the path of a breakup.

Dreary day music

Though I live in a town that has 9 months of summer and about 2 months of winter (half a month each for spring and autumn), it's hitting that time where the weather is getting cold enough to need some good "sitting inside and reminiscing" music. Do any of you guys tag your music as "nostalgic" or the like or use any particular artist, album, or song to get into a contemplative, retrospective, or i

Songs when you need calm

So from time to time something will come along that will completely throw me for a loop and make me so upset for one reason or another that my mind will race and my stomach clench, etc. etc. I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, what songs or albums do you use to calm down? It's changed for me over the years. In my early to mid-teens, it had to be something heavy. Dark and h...

Night driving songs

So I drive home from my parents' house every night and need a good revolving driving playlist. Night driving, where you're mellow but still want a bit of a beat. Maybe a little nostalgic (I don't know why, but nighttime is always kind of a nostalgic time for me).Anyway, what do you guys listen to when driving at night, or what would you listen to?

Songs-- or albums-- to work to

In the vein of my last post, what songs or albums do you spin up when you've got work to do (schoolwork, job work, etc.)?I've always had a hard time finding good music to work to. Lyrics distract me like crazy. Try as I might, I can't stay focused on the task at hand if i have lyrics in the background; my thoughts will inevitably stray to them. So, anyone with good, non-lyrics-containing music ...

Songs --or albums --to sleep to

I don't know how all you guys come across my blog when I post (i'm still getting used to MOG), but I thought I'd just ask a general question directed at those of you who go to sleep listening to music. What music works for you? My two favorites (the only two that work with any regularity, though I haven't tried many):Radiohead - OK Computer (what can I say? I guess I don't mind dark albums)Slowdiv

nostalgia

The Robinsons were a fuzz-pop band with punk influences from Chalmette, Louisiana. I saw them play at the Punk Rock Prom at the A.R.K. in New Orleans back in the day. They broke up some time ago, and I had a hell of a time finding any of their stuff until i spotted someone else who listened to them on last.fm. (no, i'm not affiliated with the site.) Anyway, if you can find their stuff, you should

Why can't I change my birthday?

I've been looking into this as a comparison study with last.fm.So far last.fm is still ahead by miles. It's akin to facebook v. MySpace. facebook is feature-heavy, which MySpace is just...i don't know...a bit clumsy. And what exactly does it mean that my MOG is 'toasty'? Any help appreciated.Oh, also, the fact that MOG installs itself as a preference pane is a bit problematic.Andrew
