So, being such a huge fan of The Strokes and all, I couldn't believe I had missed Nickolai Fraiture's side project entirely.

Last week, in our faithful Westword newspaper, I saw that his band Nickel Eye were coming to Denver tonight. After some much needed edumacation, I am liking what I hear! It's pretty awesome. I find it creatively moving that Nickolai just pulled out a collection of old written things and just made an album out of it...that's good old fashioned ingenuity! I'm sure it's not uncommon, but it's still awesome.

I also love when side projects sound really different from the mother band. It is just going to show much how talented each of the members are on their own too, and reaffirms my love for their original band.

Anyway, it should be a great show. I'm stoked.
