Piano Blues

Posted about 1 year ago
Skip James is one of the Delta Blues singers of the 1930's who was 're-discovered' in the early 1960's and who's work is now well-known. Skip is mainly celebrated for his original of the song 'I'm So Glad' popularised by Cream. But apart from the acoustic guitar blues, Skip could turn his hand to a mean piano blues, as this demonstrates.

  1. deadmandeadman says One of benefits of the folk/blues revival of the mid-fifties to late sixties ??was?? the re-emergence of artists who's careers had largely petered out by that time. Skip James, **Libby Cotton**, **John Hurt**, **Pink Andersen** and so many others got a chance to make a few bucks in their later years, as well as teach the newly awakened "socially aware" folkies a thing or two about the blues. It was a thrilling time, though at the time I was too bone-headed (nyuk, nyuk) to listen much.
