THE MUSIC BLOGGING HIVE MIND

Incroyable

Posted about 1 year ago
I hadn't listened to this for nigh on 20 years, until last week when I converted the old vinyl to CD. This is incredible - Scottish psychedelic hippie folk music incorporating bells and bazoukis, mandolins and harps and chants and Bahamian spirituals and Sikh hymns and lots more....This is the Incredible String Band - A Very Cellular Song

  4. Ohm51 says I love this song ... its been a favorite of mine for years. That extends to ISB's entire catalogue. ISB, to my mind, were and still are, pure genius and musical treasure. Pentangle, Fairport Convention, and the John Renbourn Group, as well. Just a word on the idea that if this might sound dated to some ... that in a way these tracks sounded 'dated' back then too, as ISB eschewed both modern electronics and modern forms. Their charm was largely due their insistance on using acoustic instrumentation and tapping into earlier musical forms. So this felt very unlike most of the popular music of the time, then as well. And Mike Herron's Blessing to the listener, at the end, is as poignant now as then. Ohm51
