Percussionist Ray Barretto has been a valuable sideman for a couple of decades. This Atlantic LP, however, finds Barretto's brand of Latin-jazz somewhat overshadowed by funk rhythms and commercial elements with a lot of faceless solos. There are some worthwhile moments, but in general this set is a bit of a disappointment.
