AMG Review of Every Day I Have the Blues
Cub Koda
All Music GuideA fair-to-middling-quality tape of Buddy and Junior doing a typical set in the mid-'70s. The lineup of Jack Meyers (bass), Fred Below (drums), and Donald Hankins (baritone sax) is nigh perfect, and always in the pocket, and hearing Buddy do "Satisfaction" is one of the more surreal experiences on here. If this were even of soundboard quality, it might be an enjoyable experience; but the horribly muffled vocals and frequent blasts of distortion, combined with mistitled and miscredited tunes (I'm sure that James Brown will be surprised to learn that Buddy and Junior wrote "Out of Sight") and a lack of hard recording dates and information, make this one strictly for completists.
