Released a few weeks in advance of their debut, Permission to Land, the Darkness' third short-player was named after album highlight "Growing on Me" -- arguably the most immediate single of the band's short but inspired career to date. Further buoyed by almost hourly MTV airplay of its attendant video, Growing on Me peaked at number 17 and offered two collectable nonalbum tracks as well. These were the bluesy, Thin Lizzy-citing "How Dare You Call This Love?" and the instrumental "Bareback," a regular show opener powered by riffs that AC/DC built. Of note, such is the Darkness' remarkably high-grade songwriting that both of these songs could have easily slotted themselves into the aforementioned album, making this release well worth seeking out for die-hard fans.
