MOG Editorial Review
With the release of her sophomore album, Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon has established herself as the rare breed capable of combining sugary indie pop with something much more more bold and experimental. While the airy vocals on CYRK are certainly welcoming, Le Bon still offers many challenging elements to keep her songs from seeming run-of-the-mill. "Greta," for instance, begins in eerie fashion with distorted vocals and organ accompaniment, suggesting something sinister that never quite emerges, while "Fold the Cloth" nearly feels psychedelic. By the time you get to two-part closer "Ploughing Out," Le Bon's ambition is evident, and it goes without saying that she's destined for big things.
