After gaining fame with 2010's The Big Black & The Blue, the young Söderberg sisters and their First Aid Kit project have returned a little older, a little wiser, and on a mission to save folk music with The Lion's Roar. More than anything, the Swedish's duo's composure is immediately noticeable on songs like "In the Hearts of Men," singing with genuinely moving heartbreak. On standout "Emmylou," meanwhile, they manage to evoke kindred spirits from previous generations while making a statement all their own, making refreshingly straightforward declarations of love in the process. They may still be young, but The Lion's Roar marks the moment this Swedish duo loses the "prodigy" tag in favor of undeniable excellence.
