Despite his reputation as one of the Bay Area's emerging talents, Ty Segall's prolific output has made in impossible to find a proper starting point until now, as this collection of greatest stomping garage rock jams captures his essence. Covering the majority of his career to date, Segall's a one-man DIY powerhouse on tracks like opener "Where We Go" and "Standing at the Station," fueled by aggression and just the right hint of psychedelia. To his credit, though the singles collection also highlights his versatility as well, as more recent cuts like "Lovely One" reveal a talent for mellow ballads, while "So Alone" is just far more intricate than the cuts kicking off the album. Even if releasing multiple albums a year can be dizzying for the average listener, Ty Segall is one artist we still can't get enough of.
