A fairly good budget-priced collection, Pledging My Love contains 13 romantic and seductive '70s soul tracks, ranging from the gorgeous (the O'Jays) to the explicit (Johnnie Taylor). Since it's arranged thematically, it can't be much more than a collection of good songs; there's no sense of history or chronology on the disc, nor are there any incisive line notes. Nevertheless, the songs are strong, with only a few exceptions, making it a nice purchase for casual fans.
