On their debut EP, LA act PAPA manage to make the case for immediate crossover success without resembling a mainstream rock band in the slightest. Containing traces of everything from tropicalia to Americana throughout the five songs that make up A Good Woman Is Hard to Find, PAPA use these experiments to spice up what might be just another rock anthem in the hands of anyone else. United mainly by vibrant guitar riffs, PAPA show off winking sexuality on "Let's Make You Pregnant," a hint of funk on "I Am the Lion King," and a penchant for the melancholy on "Collector." What's more stunning than their range, though, is how long these songs will stick in your head, whether you're humming or singing along, a good sign as the band prepares their debut full-length.
