MOG Editorial Review
UK rockers the Horrors already had a reputation for revitalizing different sounds from the '80s, but Skying manages to add a few more influences to the mix while signaling that they're ready to pack arenas. Equal parts shoegaze, indie rock, and new wave, it's rare that songs as gloomy as single "Still Life" sound so massive and stadium-ready, which is a testament to both the band's growth and ambition. The shimmering synths of songs like "I Can See Through You" seem tailor-made for frontman Faris Badwan's baritone, and if the band continue to figure out new ways to highlight his soaring vocals, the band are bound to encounter a well-deserved mainstream breakthrough.
