It took four years for the Cool Kids to finally release a proper full-length, but the one-time blogosphere darlings have made it worth the wait in the form of When Fish Ride Bicycles. Featuring minimal beats that turn out to be remarkably funky, Chicago duo Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish use their relaxed flow to create a sound that's both nostalgic and tongue-in-cheek. This is especially apparent on tracks like that amazingly named "Penny Hardaway" and "Bundle Up," which evoke a time when hip-hop was about surface level fun and goofing off. Still, the fact that they can spit clever rhymes that will make you pause in admiration shows that they're more than a gimmick act despite the eternal delay of this album, and we can only hope the next comes sooner rather than later.
