No matter what he was interpreting, guitar master John Fahey was always capable of turning anything into his own beautiful creation. Holiday staples are no exception, as Christmas Guitar finds Fahey at his peaceful best, all while still managing to feel reverent in his takes on "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "Joy to the World." Even as his reverence shines, though, Fahey's interpretations are jaw-dropping, as every intricate chord seems like a Christmas miracle unto itself. Fahey was always at his best when he looked to gospel-tinged tracks as his inspiration, and Christmas Guitar just might be one of the best examples of that one can find.
