These ten cuts represent Lee Morgan's earliest solo sides after the Jazz Messengers. They are fully developed musically, with fine compositions by saxophonist Wayne Shorter and pianist Duke Jordan, who played in this quintet. There isn't anything new here, but the roots of Morgan's later, more R&B influenced sound can be heard on these sides.
