Midwestern rapper Tech N9ne has largely remained an underground rapper during his career, but his beefy twelfth album, All 6’s and 7’s, seeks to challenge his status, and he succeeds beyond his wildest dreams in doing so. Tech N9ne delivers his rhymes at breakneck speed, with Twista, Busta Rhymes and Turkish rapper Ceza assisting and providing much-needed contrast on “Worldwide Choppers.” The rest of the guest appearances, rounded out with the likes of Lil Wayne, E-40 and Snoop Dogg, allow Tech N9ne to play with his rhythmic flow and lyrical themes while adding an extra layer of surface-level charms. It might take a repeat listen or three to nail down those rapid-fire verses, but finding rhymes full of substance is the true payoff. All 6’s and 7’s gives him plenty of breathing room among a pleasing balance of beats that go from hard-hitting to introspective, and rightfully serves as his coming-out party to the mainstream.
