MOG Editorial Review
After gaining buzz on the strength of his debut album, 2005's We Have Sound, Tom Vek suddenly disappeared for over five years. In the meantime, indie rock has embraced his rock-tinged version of electro-pop, making his return with Leisure Seizure all the more welcome. This time, though, Vek lets his rock 'n' roll side dominate, with drumbeats and synths mostly taking the back seat as Vek tackles heartbreak and adulthood. Still, though, those nostalgic for the sound that made Vek a potential breakout star won't be disappointed, as the playful "A.P.O.L.O.G.Y." and frantic "We Do Nothing" still serve as slices of electro greatness with a rock 'n' roll heart. Here's hoping we won't have to wait another six years for the follow-up!
