MOG Editorial Review
New York rockers the Shivers took massive financial and personal risks in recording More, and the effort appears to have paid off. The band's personal savings went into getting the best possible production quality for their throwback sound, and it shows on songs like "Kisses," which recall a time in the '60s when the line between garage rock and soul was still blurry. While many other bands that attempt this sound either come off as too nostalgic or ironic in the process, More hits all the right notes to take us on a trip back in time, all the while using subtle touches to remind us that it's being created in the present. While there's still the risk they might lose money on the project, the Shivers have admirably stuck to their guns and created a charming new record.
