While most indie legends keep their reunions to a set of sold-out shows, The Feelies took a gamble by creating their first album in two decades, and the result is their best album since their 1980 landmark Crazy Rhythms. Upon first listen, it might sound like the Feelies have mellowed out, but once you spend enough time with their latest it becomes apparent that they've taken great care to expand their sound. Though a track like "When You Know" sounds like the college rock that brought them cult fame in the first place, opener "Nobody Knows" finds the band creating more mature songs, embracing acoustic guitars and intimate lyrics. Still, the fittingly titled "Time Is Right" turns out to be the album's standout, one that sounds stuck in time like it could have been created in either 2011 or 1981, proving that the band's music is timeless no matter when it was made.
