The people at Blood and Fire have a good ear for the heaviest of dub, DJ, and vocal tracks and predictably have assembled an excellent collection here. The majority of tracks are dub numbers mixed by King Tubby; highlights include Keith Hudson's darkly atmospheric "Michael Talbot Affair," King Tubby and Prince Jammy's dense "King Tubby in a Fine Style," and Morwell Unlimited's sunny and stratospheric "Concord." Excellent DJ cuts by Jah Stitch, I Roy, and Big Joe (Joe's deft microphone work on "In the Ghetto" especially standing out) and fine vocal numbers by Horace Andy, Burning Spear, and Prince Alla round out the set. Special mention should be made of the always excellent Blood and Fire sound mix and the smart sequencing of tracks. A great buy for both the seasoned and new reggae fan.
