MOG Editorial Review
By bridging the gap between accessible electro-pop and danceable art-rock, Hooray for Earth have created a sound of multiple trends converging without feeling forced in the least on True Loves. On the title track, for instance, the band has competing ideas that manage to not overstep the boundaries of one another, with frontman Noel Heroux's airy vocals soaring above shimmering synths and noise-rock guitars at different points throughout. "No Loves," meanwhile, find them creating a hybrid out of those two sounds that has more in common with gritter strands of electro akin to Ratatat, and by the time you get to anthemic closer "Black Trees," you get the feeling that Hooray for Earth are only going to get bigger, better, and more ambitious over time.
