Issued in chronological order as usual, the 25 selections on the CD (which include some religious pieces in addition to blues and a few instrumentals) contain performances by Emma E. Beacham, Billy & Mary Mack, Rev. J.M. Gates, Laura Smith, the team of Dessa Foster & Howling Smith, Three Stripped Gears (a string trio), the Memphis Night Hawks ("Beedle Um Bum"), Jack Kelly's South Memphis Jug Band, Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux, Josh White, Peetie Wheatstraw, Curtis Jones, One Arm Slim, Charlie Burse's Memphis Mudcats, Leadbelly, and the Nashville Washboard Band. Intriguing music, easily recommended to early blues collectors.
