Better produced than their debut, We Came to Play continues what became a formula for The Persuasions -- covering '50s and '60s classics (the latter most usually taken from the Motown and Curtis Mayfield portfolios), the occasional Tin Pan Alley standard, and judiciously chosen pop/rock covers. In the '70s, a cappella singing was a lost art The Persuasions were determined to keep alive.
