In 2009, Joe released a low-key, six-track Christmas EP titled Make Sure You’re Home for Christmas. Home Is the Essence of Christmas expands the release by containing the entirety of the EP while adding four songs: “Christmas in New York” (a new song written by Joe associate Joshua Paul Thompson), “Christmas Time Is Here,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and an instrumental version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” A quiet, pleasant, understated set of Christmas songs.
