Despite their obvious ambition, Concrete Blonde rarely made consistent albums, which is why the 18-track Recollection: The Best of Concrete Blonde is welcome. It collects all of the group's high points, not just singles like "Joey," "Still in Hollywood," "Ghost of a Texas Ladies Man," "Walking in London," and "Heal It Up," but also album tracks like "Tomorrow, Wendy," "Scene of a Perfect Crime," "Bloodletting," and "Mexican Moon." Although it would have been nice if Recollection was presented in chronological order instead of in the jumbled mess that constitutes its final sequencing, it remains an excellent overview of Concrete Blonde's career.
