It's no coincidence that this antiwar musical, set during the Civil War, became a big Broadway hit around the time Vietnam fell, but that doesn't mean the Gary Geld/Peter Udell work isn't a profound and tuneful meditation on war and peace; it is. It has John Cullum's Tony-winning performance at its center.
