All Music GuideThe Roots’ third album for Def Jam and ninth studio set, How I Got Over, is the group’s first release since becoming the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Crossing paths with the show’s musical guests has fostered collaborations that would not have occurred under any other circumstances. While the album features the likes of My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Monsters of Folk, there are several less surprising contributions from Little Brother’s Phonte, Dice Raw, P.O.R.N., John Legend, and Jazzyfatnastees’ Mercedes Martinez.
