Earning considerable buzz with the hit mixtape So Far Gone, Canadian rapper Drake’s Thank Me Later was one of the most anticipated debuts in hip-hop history. Blessed with the dual talents of emceeing and singing as well, Drake’s double threat was fully showcased on the breakout LP. Despite an all-star cast of features from Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Alicia Keys, Drake manages to hold his own while trading bars with some of the fiercest spitters in the game. Thank Me Later finds Drake in the midst of superstardom and chronicles the adjustments he faced while dealing with growing fame and the pressure to deliver. The well-balanced album and offers slow jams like “Karaoke” and “Ce Ce’s Interlude” for every banger like “Miss Me” and “Fancy.” While it didn’t live up to the hype of an instant-classic like many predicted, Thank Me Later is a strong beginning for one of rap’s most talented upstarts.
