Three months after releasing Mayfield: Remixed, Rhino came back with another remix project. This time out, respected KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad pairs a dozen classics from Atlantic's vault -- from the jazz, funk, and soul wings -- with a crop of up-and-coming and established DJs and producers. As is the case with all other compilations of this kind, nearly every new version will give you a nagging itch to hear the original. The best contributions are the ones where the masters weren't provided; Sa-Ra's look at Kleeer's "Tonight," the best of the bunch, is a dazzling cover, a vibrant studio party featuring Me'Shell NdegéOcello on bass.
