A continuation of her new sparse, electronically driven direction, La Fuerza del Destino continues Fey's sonic journey toward the Euro, separating her a little more from her Mexicano countrymen with every spacy, dark, dance track. Though there are traces of her sugar pop heritage, this is a touch more mature than previous work; the production style seems to be seeking deeper waters, and Fey herself still sounds quite a bit like a dangerously sexually precocious teenager. Ignacio Cano, of Spanish techno-pop group Mecano, penned all of the material on the record. With such a veteran in her corner, it's no surprise that Fey reached Billboard's Top Ten on the Latin pop chart. Fey has lasted through the few-hits-wonder phase and demonstrated genuine staying power.
